LUNA
experiment is a nuclear astrophysics experiment running at the
INFN (Istituto Nazionale di Fisica Nucleare)
Laboratori Nazionali del Gran Sasso.
The aim of the experiment is to measure the cross sections of the most important fusion
reactions of the p-p chain and of the CNO cycle at solar energies (below
or near the Gamow peak, at a few tens of keV). To achieve this goal, a high
current 50 kVolt accelerator equipped with a windowless gas target has
been installed in the undergound Gran Sasso laboratory and a new 400 kVolt machine
is fully operating since 2001.
